Sanibel Island is a beautiful tropical paradise located three miles off the mainland of Fort Myers, Florida.  An island connecting causeway offering panoramic views welcomes you to Sanibel. This environmentally conscious island is comprised of over 60% vegetation.   There are no high rises (4 stories maximum) and no traffic lights.  It is a great place to enjoy a leisurely or well deserved vacation. You can do nothing or almost anything.   Relaxation, water and naturalist activities consume the time of most vacationers.   Young children love to play in the gentle, nonintimidating Gulf water.  You can look for sand dollars or starfish  several hundred feet into the Gulf at low tide and only be in four feet of water. Fishing from shore, renting or chartering boats, canoeing through the Ding Darling Nature Preserve and parasailing are among the many water based activities. The Suggestion Book that we personally developed includes a large section on restaurant recommendations.
